John Hetzel CFA, CFP®, AIFA®
Role: I am responsible for overseeing the well-being of SK Advisor Network and its member firms. My focus is on managing resources wisely to ensure that we deliver advisor peace of mind, enhance client experiences, and help our team members find fulfillment in their work. I’m dedicated to finding innovative solutions to common industry challenges and sharing the sKan story with like-minded firms who have been invited to join our community.
Background: I graduated with an engineering degree from Texas A&M University in the late ‘90s and began my career in finance by helping teachers save for retirement through fixed annuities in their 403(b) plans. Seeing the positive impact I could make, I immersed myself in the industry, gaining experience at GE Financial and Fidelity before transitioning to the RIA world in 2006. This transition marked the beginning of my specialization in investments and operations. I have since helped multiple firms grow from small to mid-size and from mid-size to large RIAs. Through these experiences, I witnessed firsthand how enterprise-level goals can sometimes conflict with the individual needs of advisors and clients, driving me to build better solutions.
Personal Note: My wife, Hilary, and I live in Plano, Texas, with our son, Joel, and daughter, Mazzie. Our kids are competitive Jiu-Jitsu athletes, and their tournaments have taken us around the world. We embrace a “Go Big or Go Home” mindset in everything we do and enjoy camping, cooking, and exploring new experiences as a family.
